Sustainably into a shared future

 

With its ambitions towards sustainability, society is presenting us with one of the biggest challenges of the present day. A company will no longer be judged solely by profits and job security. Rather, it will increasingly be viewed in terms of its societal role, assessed by the extent to which it is committed to addressing the ecological and social aspects of its own actions, keeping future generations in mind. Our first in-house sustainability audit yielded pleasing results: as an organisation, Klasmann-Deilmann acts more sustainably than we ourselves had expected. For example, many of our activities that are in the spirit of corporate social responsibility have been part of our day-to-day business for many years – whereas, in certain other areas, we are just starting out on the journey.

Our corporate strategy has already been geared towards principles of sustainability for many years. Important developments here included the composting of residual green waste which began over 20 years ago, certification to the ISO 9001 standard 10 years ago, and the launch of the ISO 14001 environmental management system in 2008.
